Dear Congregant,

     You are cordially invited to attend the annual meeting of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 7:30PM.  The purpose of this meeting is the election of Trustees and to report all congregational activities for the past year.

     At the October Board of Trustees meeting the Nominating Committee proposed the following individuals to serve as Trustees and voted to approve the nominations.

          Sandra Conrad

          Stu Zorfas

          Eleanor Zorfas

          Arleen Klapper

          Jerome Grushkin

          Dr. Israel Greenwald

Additional nominations may be made by a nominating petition, signed by a minimum of 5 members, and received by the temple office by November 16, 2016. It is important to note that no additional nominations may be made from the floor. 

 

In addition, the following changes to our Constitution shall be voted upon:

 

Proposal as to additional Trustees

Article V of the Constitution is amended as follows for the period of December 2016 through December 2019:

 

Lawrence Feingertz, Sharon Fenster, Joyce Lieb, and Jeffrey Saltiel are hereby elected as Trustees, in addition to the Trustees required by Article V Section 8 of the Constitution, for terms starting December 2016 and ending December 2019.  In the event that Lawrence Feingertz, Sharon Fenster, Joyce Lieb, or Jeffrey Saltiel shall resign their Trustee position or otherwise cease to be a Trustee during this period, then they shall not be replaced for the balance of their term.

 

 

Proposal as to Trustee requirements

The Constitution is amended to add paragraph 17 to Article V – Officers and Trustees:

17.  All of the members of the Board of Trustees including officers , trustees, and ex-officio members, are required to make a minimum donation of $1,000.00 to the synagogue for each calendar year in which they were subject to this provision, by October 31st of that year.  This provision shall not apply to new members of the Board of Trustees where they are only members of the Board of Trustees for the month of December in the year of election.  The $1,000 amount shall include any donations during the calendar year, which are made or earmarked for any purpose to the synagogue.  “Donation” shall not include any required payments, dues, or payments for an activity.   On November 1 of each year, the Treasurer shall review the donations of each member of the Board of Trustees and shall bill and notify any such member who has not met their obligation for the year, in the amount of such shortfall, and said amount shall be due immediately.   

 

All votes shall be by a show of hands unless 3 members request a closed ballot.
