Dear members of the board,

I hope everyone has been enjoying the summer and the brief respite from having to attend monthly board meetings. Unfortunately, I will have to disturb that respite.

At an executive board meeting held this last Tuesday we resolved that it would be necessary to convene an emergency board meeting to discuss a possible contract with the Chabad Day School for the 2015-2016 school year. The board meeting must be held before our September meeting because if we enter into an agreement, Rabbi Katzman will have to know before the school year begins.

Grave concerns were raised about entering into such an agreement at our last board meeting, some related to issues with the ability to comply with State and City regulations for maintaining a school on our premises and others relating to the school’s prior history with other landlords. Since that last meeting, I believe that we have received sufficient additional information to allay any apprehension about regulatory compliance and the emergency board meeting will be an opportunity to explain the licensing requirements for a school at CBJ and to answer any questions about a possible agreement.

The board meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m. Please respond as to whether you will be able to attend. If you cannot attend and have any questions, issues or concerns please forward them directly to me at mbaesqsiny@aol.com.
